Our Visit toThe White House

Pacific Engineering Inc. (PEI) is excited to share that its executive team (President Rear Admiral Combs (Retired), Senior Vice President Mr. Dexter Myers, Chief Financial Officer Mr. Don Myers) were invited to the White House West Wing. We were asked to discuss our innovative technologies derived from our Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contracts and how we could commercialize the technology to other Federal Agencies and private sector markets. On 28 August 2024, PEI briefed The Honorable Stephen K. Benjamin, Assistant to the President, Senior Advisor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement and on 29 August Ms. Jenny Kaplan, Deputy Assistant to the President, Senior Advisor to the President and Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement.

We discussed our capabilities as a small defense contractor and being a part of the Defense Industrial Base developing and creating jobs in the manufacturing space especially for our underserved communities and how we are executing on the Administration’s policies as they flow down to small business. The director and the deputy director were excited to hear about our SBIR work for Navy shipboard hybrid composite hatches, a critical part of our national security capability, and PEI expanding manufacturing capability in North Omaha, Nebraska.

Further, we discussed transitioning our capabilities, such as shelters for unhoused personnel, disaster relief modular shelters/containers, and mobile medical facilities. PEI seeks to build on the foundation laid during the Covid Pandemic. During the Pandemic, PEI designed, built and mobilized composite enclosures to provide Covid testing and vaccinations in underserved communities. The Rapid On Demand- Portable Mobile Platform (ROD-PMPTM) was developed from a concept from a Navy SBIR contract. ROD-PMPTM provided a quick, efficient, comprehensive, and equitable vaccine distribution and testing platform that was a rapid and transportable solution to rural and urban locations including Nebraska, Wash. DC, Maryland and Virginia underserved communities. Follow-up actions and discussions are underway.
